Lead User Experience/Product Designer

We are looking for a dedicated, talented, and collaborative person to lead the user experience arm of our Product and Engineering Team. You will have the opportunity to inspire others, implement customer-centered design principles, and grow the value of our products by expanding how our users discover and engage with us. The ideal candidate comes with a wealth of proven product experience, and can work confidently and collectively with our Strategy, Design, and Engineering Teams to help tailor beautifully designed product experiences, across our various platforms and devices.
 

You will be reporting directly to the chief product officer in our New York office located in the historic Woolworth Building, working together to build and implement innovative technologies that will shape the way people experience visual culture today.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and execute UX research to support teams make data-driven decisions
  • Contribute actionable research to improve designs, prioritize features, and guide the product
  • roadmap
  • Apply strategic thinking to the product development process, and identify various approaches to scale, scope, and methodology, including but not limited to, interviews, usability testing, and surveys
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management, Engineering, and Design Teams
  • Lead research and present findings with the team in written reports and/or presentations
  • Contribute to high-level strategic decisions related to existing features, as well as new products
  • Partner with visual design and front-end to create beautiful user experiences
  • Rapidly produce multiple concepts and prototypes to illustrate and test thinking
  • Communicate results and illustrate recommendations in compelling and creative ways
  • Maintain an understanding of digital trends and capabilities, and actively participate in establishing a strong design culture within the company
  • Manage and mentor junior- to mid-level team members

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of user experience, product design, or related field
  • Strong communication skills to help set up frameworks and brainstorm initial design concepts
  • Ability to mentor others to deliver, while making our strategy come to life
  • Experience conducting user research and interpreting analysis in a compelling way
  • Understand design processes and encourage collaboration between other designers and product teams
  • Demonstrate the ability to produce smart, quick prototypes to validate your ideas
  • Fluency in Sketch, InVision, Principle, Flinto, or other prototyping software
  • Working knowledge of data tools used to measure user flows, such as Google Analytics
  • Experience in coding a plus
  • Knowledge of and/or strong interest in the art world a plus
